Window Shopping Spree- "Stuck on the couch with a cold" Edition!

Today I was planning on doing another fancy pants outfit with a price tag that makes me want to hurl.

But my throat hurts and my body aches and I don't really feel like looking up that sort of stuff-
I just want to look up some comfy cozy "stay on the couch all day" goodness. When I was little and I'd have to go home early from school, my mom liked to put together care packages to make me feel better.
**Thanks Mommy! lol**
Toys, treats, random odds and ends to keep me entertained! This is no different.

Forgive me if this is boring to any of you, but this is a collection of what I wish was with me to waste a day doing nothing when I feel like poop! Fancy shmancy and cool/exciting will resume next week!

For now- I'm dreaming of these lovely purchases...

1. U Shaped Body Pillow- I have wanted this forever!!! It's so fantastically unnecessary and my pets would totally get jealous because nothing else would fit on the couch with me- but I would SO cuddle up to this. Delicious.
2. The Nook Color- Another product I REALLY don't need. I have an iPad... It has a Nook app... Oh well!! I also happen to be of the "I like having real books to then put on the bookshelf" mindset. But! When I'm sick on the couch, my area tends to get over run with medicine, and tissues, and books, and magazines, and any other obnoxious thing you can think of. This would at least eliminate the number of books!
3. A Kate Spade Case for said Nook Color- If I'm going to get an unnecessary tech item, I obviously need an unnecessary case for it. That's just common sense people.
4. Rosetta Stone in Italian- I want to learn Italian SO bad! If I have no choice but to remain on the couch, why not take advantage of having nothing else to devote my attention to? Can you imagine- "I had a cold so I started learning Italian! I got the stomach virus and thats when I really mastered it!" I think it's brilliant.
5. Nancy Drew Computer Games- Whoops, is my geek showing?! I'm really not a gamer by any means, but at some point in college I started buying these games to do "non-course work related, mindless fun" and I never turned back. There are 25 games in the series so far and I'm only missing 6... They're such a blast though!! You solve the mystery-adventure game, as Nancy Drew, and go through all these really hard puzzles in the process. Oh dear... I just gave up some serious cool points revealing that... I'm sure the image of me on a couch, surrounded by snot rags in no way affected my cool points though. Neither did referring to them as "cool points."
6. A snacky treat gift basket- I'm ever so slightly starving with zero motivation to get off this couch to prepare anything for myself... This would come so in handy!! Just reach over and grab something with enough preservatives in it to make it from whatever random store it came from to my coffee table! Yum!

Although I didn't put up a picture of it, mainly because I don't need to purchase it, another big comfort for me is white rice with a fried egg mixed into it. This will more than likely be today's meal of choice (insert brown rice though) as it has been with every cold since the beginning of time. Or just my life. I've always called it "Wehweetoh con fwehfweetoh", which is my phonetic interpretation of how I would always try to say "Arroz con huevo frito" (rice with fried egg in Spanish). But good luck navigating through that phonetic interpretation. lol Maybe I'll say it out loud in a vlog some time soon if you're lucky.

So what do you all do when you're stuck at home, sick? Comforts, wishes, anything you'd be embarrassed to admit happens under such circumstances? Come on, I admitted to my Nancy Drew games!

Till next time...

Possibly my first AND last vlog ever- The Accent Vlog...

Thanks to the always lovely Ruthie over at The Chronicles of Ruthie Hart, I got the urge to try out this vlog thing. *My person should never have to work crazy hours because this is what I resort to...* This video seems to show otherwise, but I really can't imagine rambling on to camera by myself.

Enter Accent Vlog!

The task of an accent vlog gave me something specific to talk about so that I didn't feel so self conscious but had an excuse to try out this whole movement. It's a sort of way to just kinda laugh at each other and our strange ways of talking. Most all of us have some nuances of an accent and it's funny to hear them all come out.

I think it's interesting to match an actual voice with all the posts. Now you can all see why I still get carded at rated R movies even though I'm in my mid-twenties! I'm going to pretend I only sound funny in videos and not in real life...

For those of you that want to play along- Just make a video of yourself saying this list of words and then answering this list of questions:

Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught

  • What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
  • What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
  • What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
  • What do you call gym shoes?
  • What do you say to address a group of people?
  • What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
  • What do you call your grandparents?
  • What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
  • What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
  • What is the thing you change the TV channel with?

I know you're all so excited to watch this. Sorry I rambled... But suck it up and watch it all! :)

Ok, your turn!! Get on it! And then send me the link so I can go have fun on your page! :) Can't wait to laugh at hear all of you!

My Liebster Blog award... and I'm on vacation...

I've been a little MIA this week... sorry guys! I got that cold that's been making it's rounds and I had to put all my efforts and energy into fighting it off because- vacation starts tomorrow!!!! eeehhhhhkjnasfkjb, jhgby, jed,,evwghjkguywr! *You should know I legitimately made that noise just now when I typed that I'd be going on vacation.*

I am feeling a little better but luckily I don't HAVE to be 100% to enjoy laying in the sun. So I think I'll be alright.

In the midst of this cold I got a wonderful little surprise. If you've spent any time surfing around multiple blogs, you'll know we bloggers are a very friendly bunch and we just LOVE getting and receiving blog awards... I was feeling a little left out that I had yet to be acknowledged as being "blog award" worthy. Well MinDog and Metch from over at Shitty Fabulous Lives (p.s. go check them out!) made my week by honoring me as one of their 5 Liebster Awards.

Their description and background information is much more thorough than that which I am about to leave. In essence, each recipient passes the award on to 5 other blogs with less than 200 followers that they feel deserve some kudos. Oh! And there are rules.
1. Thank the giver.
2. Pass it along to 5 other bloggers with less than 200 followers. Leave a comment and follow them.
3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.
4. Hope your followers spread the love to other bloggers.

So, without further ado-
Thank you MinDog and Metch!! So glad my first blog award came from a couple of kick ass girls!

My Liebster Blog awards go to-

Angie over at Smoosy

Michelle over at Running with Scissors

Kelsey over at Harbor Cottage

Jenna over at The Duty Family

These are just a handful of some of my newest, most favoritest (take that, grammar!) blogs! I hope you guys will visit them and I hope you'll find them as interesting as I do! Pass along the happy!

And with that- I am on vacation people!! See you all at the end of this coming week... Hope it has as many smiles as mine is about to have...

Strange video... But I love the song!

5 minute smile fest...

I did this once before but I really wanted to do it again. In fact, I wanted to try to incorporate it into my blog on a regular basis. So in an attempt to stick with the title, here goes nothing! 5 things that make me smile today in 5 minutes (or less)... but realistically more like 8...

  1. The prospect of getting some Red Lobster in my belly later on tonight! If food doesn't make you smile, we probably wouldn't get along all that well!
  2. Balsamic Vinegar!!! (2 food centric smiles? why not?) I could probably drink the left over balsamic vinegar once I've finished my salad... is that strange?
  3. Wanting to punch Tony Horton (of p90x fame) in the face! I'm sorry, is that inappropriate? I'm on day 1 of week 4- I challenge you to get through 3 weeks of these videos and not end up mocking the nuances that he says. But when I'm working out alone in my apartment and I imitate him out loud, with only my cats to pay attention, I can't help but smile! "Love, love, love, till my Daddy takes my tbird away!" Oh Tony...
  4. Scaulding hot showers. Even if I'm mocked incessantly for the cloud of steam that fills the room when I'm done and the fact that I look like I've just burned my skin- I LOVE ridiculously hot showers.
  5. And finally- cats sleeping on clean, folded laundry. This should NOT make me smile. But it does. Look at that face!

Have a great weekend everyone!! ...that was really close to 5 minutes... :/

Picker upper...

I was having a rough morning where I had to administer some antibiotics to my baby kitty cat (I use "baby kitty cat" loosely as he's 3 years old). Pretty much one of the more stressful mornings I've had in a while and it really had me upset. So- on my way to work, I decided to pick 5 things that make me happy. Plain and simple. Just post 5 things that made me smile at any point in the day. I have to admit, as I started going through my day with this in mind, I came across alot more than 5 things that made me smile. Here are the 5 that made the list-

1. Organic vanilla milk.

One of the many things I stumbled upon when I first started this great cleanse month. They come in little milk boxes and they're perfect to grab on my way out the door for the morning shift. Plus, they're delicious!

2. Baby ducklings!

As I walked into work this morning, I saw a mama duckling escorting her babies through the park. Hard to see in this picture but I couldn't help but smile ear to ear when I came across them.

3. Working with my person.

Of course, that makes me smile a whole lot.

4. Dancing toddlers.

Every day, as part of the show I'm in, I ask the audience to stand up and dance along. I can't tell you how many times I giggle out loud with no regard to my microphone being on because toddler dancing is one of my favorite things in the world.

5.Cuddling with the kitten.

I was so concerned when I left for work because he was just hanging out under the bed. As soon as I got home, he came and laid next to me on the couch. I'm all smiles!

There you have it! 5 of the zillion things that made me smile on this "bad day." hope your day was filled with more of the same.

Cheers!

Another year of employment...

Today's happiness is solely based on the fact that I will be employed for atleast another year. As of today, I'm officially signed on to another year of Disney life! I have absolutely loved the last year of my life and I could not feel more blessed to have the chance to play with kids for another year! Here's to another 12 months of singing and dancing for the most adorable and captivated audience a girl could ask for.

I must be doing something right...

I'm writing this at 7 am after having to wake up and come into Pep Boys. I got maybe 6 hours of sleep (if I'm being generous) and yet I'm sitting here, waiting for my car, happy as can be! I will add, this is my Friday and I do have a hot date tonight with my ever handsome person so I'm sure that helps. Still I can't help but think this has alot to do with the whole idea "put good in, get good out."

This is an almost infallible truth of life across the board. As it fits now, I'm giving my body (aside from adequate sleep) all the good things it needs. In return, my body is working pretty much as well as I could wish! My weight is regulating itself and I just feel healthier. In a world that's full of Mickey D's every couple of blocks it isn't always easy to deny the fast food cravings. But just as good gives you good, that stuff will leave you sluggish and keep you lazily going back through the drive thru! It's a vicious cycle. I'm not saying it doesn't take a little extra effort at first to break from this trend and pack the healthy snacks and make meals, but it pays off. After just a few days of doing this, the routine is easier and I feel better for keeping it up.

Now I said this truth goes across the board because I've found the same is true at work. Though I'm lucky to have a job that I adore, doing what I love, every now and then I have a show that I'll start and just not be able to get the right energy for. I almost always think in these cases- "this audience is so low energy!" Funny how that infrequently happens when I'm hyped and good to go. As soon as I find that one child in the audience that reinvigorates me, the audience wakes up! What are the chances of that? Truth is, I'm putting my best into my performance and getting the best response back. It's magic!

As always, I'm not unreasonable and I could never assume from here on out I would only put good in regardless of the situation. But why not try? Just attempting to have a better mindset helps tremendously.

And with that, I shall humbly leave you with a gem of a cover shared with me by my friend Katie. It may be Monday in the real world, but it's my Friday!

Hershey kisses are dangerous.

For some reason I've gotten into the habit of having candy around the house to go along with the current holiday. Halloween was especially emotional as I had no idea take 5's had been discontinued until I only had one snack sized bar left. But now it's Christmas time and for as long as I can remember, I've loved peppermint bark. It's one of those delightful little things that you can really only find during this season. I love looking forward to these goodies. It's just how people get excited when red cups return to Starbucks. Seasonal goodness adds to the happiness of this time of year!

So what, pray tell, is my dose of happiness this time around? Candy Cane Hershey Kisses!!! Do yourself a favor and go buy a bag right now. Granted, bags of kisses are a little more expensive than I ever expected they should be, but these things are amazing. I find it difficult to not grab one every time I walk by the festive little pile. I've also found these a fun extra baking ingredient for the season! I melted some down to make sugar cookies the other night and they came out delicious with just a little hint of peppermint! I also added one to my mug of hot chocolate the other day, which brings me to my second thing to make me smile for this post- seasonal red velvet chocolate milk from Target. I'm actually not all that convinced it tastes all that different from regular chocolate milk but the power of suggestion when you drink red milk is very strong. So of course I love it! Sadly, milk goes bad so I can't really stock up to last me through an extra month. Anyway, heres to these yummy treats! Indulge now before they disappear until next year.

It's all about new beginnings...

Almost a year after I started this, I'm back.

I've cleared everything I'd posted till now in an attempt to start with a clean slate. Who says you can't start over at 23? It's a strange middle ground, this early 20's. College aged students think I'm older than them and yet everyone in the real world still considers me an infant. I think I'll hold on to the baby status. It reminds me that there's still so much time to make my life what it should be and what it could be.

If anyone had approached me a year ago to tell me that my life would be as it is today... I actually couldn't tell you what my reaction would've been without sounding trite and ridiculous. So I won't. Just the same- here I am. So it's time to get back to what this blog was supposed to be about all along, highlighting the happy. There's so many tiny, happy things in life that make me smile regardless of how I feel that day. In an attempt to focus on those things, I'll just feature them in this blog. Many people may find blogs obnoxious and think they're just a form of searching for attention. To those people, I say- Bite me! :)

Today's serving of happiness- a stupid youtube video. Enjoy! Here's to you talking cat. Your clearly unhappy grumbling never fails to make me smile!
